FOTD #1 - Strolling Around Blvrd. Haussmann

FOTD: Face Of The Day.

As you might have noticed, I'm kinda liking the "of the day" kind of posts. So yeah... here is another one:-) Today I went to Boulevard Haussmann, for those that do not know this street, it's basically where the big warehouses are (Galeries Lafayette, Printemps), and a lot of nice other shops. But as the weather was nice, I finished my school work planned for the day, I decided to go out for a walk. The make up used was very little, and very casual, opting for the "no make up look".

My skin has been quite nice lately, which made it possible for me to go lighter with make up. If you'd asked me to put less make up on a year ago, I wouldn't dare to. Today even got a compliment of a YSL MUA at Sephora that I had nice skin - first. time. ever. And that while she was de-make upping me, ha! Talking about a confidence boost! But this is my make up face, before I went to Sephora.

7 Things I've Been Loving (September 2012)

It's almost the end of the month already, so time for my version of the monthly favorites! I'm well aware that I skipped the favorites of August, mainly because I was very busy and overwhelmed when moving to Paris, and also because I basically would've noted the same things I did in July. This month I do have some different products I've been using continuously! I still love the products I mentioned in my July post, and still most of them, but it would be quite useless to note them again, wouldn't it?;-)

This month's favorites are a great mix of products even though I say so myself. Like my public speaking teacher would say: without further ado, let's get started!

OOTD #2 - Burgundy Groove

Yes, back again with an OOTD post. I'm kinda getting the hang of it, and quite like it honestly. So today I had my speech about an TED talk, aTED talk is basically a speech given on the website TED.com. I don't know why but when I started I was so nervous that my hands were shaking, and my legs were trembling. So after I delivered my speech, finished class, I went back home and went straight to the laundromat. It is the place I hate the most, as it takes up so much time from my day, and that the drying machines never dry the clothes at once. Seriously I have to dry it at least 3 times before it gets dry - very annoying.

Anyways, my outfit today is again very casual, and simple. Minimal make up, and my hair tied up. I absolutely adore a bit slouchy knits, and as you all know - I have my crazy obsession over everything burgundy.

Today I'm wearing:
ZARA burgundy scarf, New Look slouchy knit wear with 'leather' patches on the elbow, Primark black shoulder bag with zippers, Pieces black jeans leggings, and my ZARA studded burgundy loafers.

O. and the overfull purple bag is my laundry ha ha! Let me know whether you like these posts, or absolutely despise them:-)

What is your current fashion obsession?

OOTD #1 - Under the Radar

I have been so busy in the weekend, not partying or shopping - I wish! No, unfortunately it was all school related things. To prove that I'm still alive, a very short post:-)

As I didn't have class today, it was a top-knot + no make up face-day for me. The only things I did were groceries, which you shouldn't underestimate - it took me 45 minutes by metro to get to China town to get my things (it's a bit cheaper there, and more veggies to choose from;-). I noted down the timetable of the entire semester in my agenda, which took me a while too, as I have 10 courses, with 4 schedules to check on. I practiced a speech I have to give tomorrow and Skyped with my parents for a while. No fancy outfit needed for that ha ha!

That's why I just threw on something comfy and "under the radar" on this morning. My picks: navy Hollister hoodie, black jeans leggings, boots and my newest attribution: a burgundy scarf from ZARA. It's super soft and warm, and I love it loads. There are some golden studs at both end, which don't make me warm or cold, so I just tucked them in. For those that are wondering why I'm taking a picture in the hallway, it is because there is no full-size mirror in the apartment - worst. nightmare.

Talk to you later dolls!

Feel Unique Haul

For those that have been following my blog for a while, you guys know that I absolutely adore Feel Unique. But I mean... how can you not?! A website that sells you product for a fair price (sometimes even cheaper than in stores), free worldwide delivery, and having a crazy assortment of products. They have the niche brands, and also the big mainstream brands. Recently Yves Saint Laurent, Lancôme, and Dior have been added to their website.

The products I ordered arrived at the house of my parents for a few weeks already, but I only received these beauties yesterday (my parents were sweet enough to sent a parcel to me)! This haul is actually not purchased by myself, I actually won a 50 quid voucher via their Facebook page! Yep, I'm the person you should hate and envy at the same time, ha ha:-) When I received an email from them I couldn't be more happy. It was my first day in Paris, and I felt horrible being alone. After reading that I had won their give-away contest, it seriously made me feel so much better! I ended up picking some things I've always wanted to try, but haven't bought because of the price, or because "I didn't really need it".  So I bought 'only' 3 products. I tried to spend only the £50 voucher, which didn't really happened - but I only paid for €10 extra;-)

What I should also mention is that I got all these products during their sale, so most of them were deducted in price. Without further ado, the products I got...

Rebecca Minkoff NYFW S/S13

Those that have been following me for a long time might've noticed that I'm a person that has a lot of designer crushes. One of the designers that have been on top of my list is Rebecca Minkoff. Buying a mini M.A.C. in aquamarine this year has been one of my best purchases - ever! I don't regret it at all, love the bag loads, and am already planning (and saving up) for my next Minkoff bag, the M.A.C. or maybe even the M.A.C. Daddy! Today my focus won't be on bags though - well... okay maybe a bit, but the main focus will be on the Rebecca Minkoff New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013 show. Wow, well that's one mouth full!;-)

I absolutely love the entire collection they showed this year. It's fresh, young, bubbly, edgy, bohemian, sophisticated, classy, chic - and that all at the same time. When you watch the show (clip at the end of the post) you can feel that the choice of music is excellent, as it is a great mix of numbers that totally suit the collection seamlessly. It creates such a nice vibe, and make the collection (and the brand) all the adjectives I just mentioned a second ago. The color palette has been kept very clean and simple. The main color is white, and that mixed with mainly tones of blue, some black, grey and red pieces. All pieces are very modern, and what I like the most about it is that you could wear everything separately, and as they styled it during the show. It's a great mixture of pants and dresses, so everyone will have at least a few pieces that suit their taste. And goodness, look at the bags and shoes - do I even need to say more?;-)

As a beauty fanatic, I of course have to mention something about that! Hair is kept very simple, and casual with a bit of wavy/beach feel to it - but not too much. The skin of the models look flawless, and dewy. Full, but still clean, and simple brows. Natural rosy lips, and a flush of rosy/peach on the cheeks. A very healthy, daily look, which I'd definitely wear myself!

You can see that in spring/summer 2013 prints are still going-on strong, and at Minkoff you can see that the main print is floral. I love that they chose different kinds of floral prints, so it has a different look and feel to it, but still being coherent. In my opinion, many of these clothes will look great, and flattering on woman in all shapes and colors. Also I get a real holiday, spring/summer feel when looking at the collection. Just writing about it makes me smile like a silly person already.

Without rambling too much about their collection, here my 3 favorite looks (which took me half a day to decide on;-). All three looks I'd love to have in my collection, and would definitely wear either to uni, to work, a date, when shopping, okay actually every event in my life honestly! But hey, who wouldn't if you could strut these clothes around? If you've got it, flaunt it!

Designer Crush #1

So I'm back again, and full of inspiration. Don't ask me why, maybe it's because I bought a load of French (fashion) magazines to kill the time while I'm waiting for my laundry, maybe the French wine, the amazing boutiques in Paris or maybe I'm just eating too many baguettes. No kidding, I don't eat many baguettes honestly, I prefer crêpes;-)

But back on track again. I was looking through all these great magazines, and making little wish lists that I may or may not afford of great designer brands. So I thought, why not share it with you guys! I do feel that my blog is a bit more beauty than fashion, so I'd like to have this as a weekly post to compensate the overload of beauty posts. This week in the designer in the spotlight: Acne.

No, I'm not talking about pimples, blemishes, or the well known skin problem acne. Non. I'm talking about the amazing, über cool, Swedish brand Acne. They became very famous with their jeans, but their clothing, shoe and accessory (including bags) collection is not to be underestimated! Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Double yes! This brand totally represents my style, and just me as a person. Very simplistic, sophisticated, minimalistic, young, feminine, edgy, easy going, and yet very chic in my opinion.

I've seen the Acne cashmere sweaters in store, online and in magazines, and they are just to die for! The quality is amazing, the design, fit and color range has nothing to be remarked on. Definitely something that is on my winter to-buy list this year, so saving up for that already. It seems to me like a timeless piece, something I would wear a lot, and something that will last for a long time. As greedy as I am, I of course have a whole bunch of other Acne items on my list. I tried to limit myself, but hey, a brand as amazing as this one, it's hard to stop myself ha ha;-)

J.W. Anderson X Topshop

So, today was the launch of the J.W. Anderson for Topshop capsule collection, and I thought I'd share my top picks with you guys! I'm always very excited, and impressed when a designer has a collaboration with Topshop. I mean... I love Topshop loads without its collaborations, but they always manage to blow me off my socks:-) I think my favorite collaboration until now is with Mary Kratzanou, but this one has some great knits and other pieces!

The J.W. Anderson is a London based, Irish born designer, and his capsule collection contains of apparel, footwear, and stationary. The range will be followed by a second collaboration in early 2013.

Uh oh!

As you might see in the picture, that is my Laura Mercier Oil-free Tinted Moisturizer. Squeezed out the last drip today, thank goodness it was just enough to cover my face. Well... actually not really, but just had to print some things at uni so an almost-bare face wasn't a biggie;-) Immediately got a new one on my way home, this time the regular version. I've used both for a long time already, and have to say the regular is my favorite. I feel that it oxidizes less, and somehow that my face is less shiny throughout the day.

I've been using the Laura Mercier TM for about 4 years already. I know, that is ridiculously long. I think it's my only product in my make up stash that I have this long - this, and the Estée Lauder Double Wear mascara. Coming back to the TM. It's an amazing product, but not for those that are looking for medium to full coverage. I used to be a full coverage girl, and when I ordered this, I was so disappointed after its first use that I haven't used it at all for a while. But then when my skin started clearing up, I applied it and my skin looked still natural, but better. I used to apply two layers of this, the second layer 5 minutes later so the first has really "sunk in/dried". But recently my skin has been amazing, so I've just been using one layer of the TM!

Since I've been living in Paris, I've been wearing this on a daily basis - and this is something that has never occurred to me. I always like to use different products on a daily base, don't ask me why, that's just how I am. But these few weeks I have been using the same products as a base (primer/TM/concealer), and my skin looks flawless and very natural. I even got many compliments:-)

I might do a review on both tinted moisturizers, maybe even a comparison review if there is any interest for that!

What is your favorite go-to product?

French Pharmacy Haul

And yes, here it is... the long awaited French pharmacy haul post. I wanted to post this as soon as I settled in Paris, but it took a bit longer than I expected to fit myself in the city, its surroundings and just to get my life together. Uni has started, am here now for 3 weeks already - time flies! But enough of the rambling, and off we go to the real deal;-)

I kinda went a teeny tiny bit crazy at the pharmacy. I went to the one at Rue du Four that Lisa Eldrige has raved about, and honestly, I love it! I've been to several pharmacies before going to this one, but their range of products and prices are the best. As you can see in the picture, I kinda got a load of products. I already started using some when I took the picture, hence why some do look used - oops! I forgot to add the other bottle of Bioderma, two Caudalie eau de Beauté sprays (a.k.a. beauty elixir) and a Caudalie grape toner (which I use in the evening). Will not put a review up per product in this post, as it will take a looooooong time then, and I haven't used all products. Have to be honest, the ones I did try, I'm very impressed!

M.I.A.

Oo em gee, I cannot believe that I haven't even posted a single post this month - Je suis très désolée, and am honestly very embarrassed that I have let you guys down. Paris has been very overwhelming, but is getting a bit better. Have met loads of people these days, and it was a lot of fun! The schedule, or better said, the schedules that I got are very confusing. Only for 2 classes I know my fixed schedule, the rest of the other courses (8) I have to depend on school to send me an email every time. Yay for French organization and structure skills! :-)

So this week I have been socializing, road tripping (just within Paris), window shopping, some more road tripping, and just very busy with figuring out how the schedule works for school. I'm not a stupid person - in my own honest opinion of course - but this is just a whole other level. Apparently I chose subjects from 3 different institutions. Oh well... they are one big institution, but have a different yearly calendar, separated everything, and one is even at another building (see other side of Paris). So yeah... kinda using up all my braincells there. No just kidding, I'm still me;-)

I know this all isn't a reason for not blogging at all, but please bear with me for a while. Still figuring out how and what. Everything I do just takes so much time! When I cook, I need to finish it asap, then eat it asap, clean the dishes immediately, and the sink. Seriously, the woman freaked - understatement,  when there were still a few drips of water in the freakin sink! And every time I finished taking a shower, I have to clean the entire bathtub, same story as the kitchen. Very time consuming, and by the time I'm done with both, it's already bloody late. Have I already mentioned that I have classes everyday of the week? Literally, every day. Have classes planned on Monday - Saturday, and then also obligatory trips on Saturday's and Sunday's for my French Culture and Civilisation course. I mean, it's a lot of fun and I meet new people, but it just takes up so much time.

I will promise - this time really! - that I will post my very belated French Pharmacy Haul very soon! Also have a very exciting product review of a product I discovered here:-)

Please don't lose faith in me, I'll be back soon!
