What I've Been Loving (September 2013)

September has been a very hectic month for me. Uni commenced, resulting in busy days, added stress and lots of books to read. Also, the formula to sleep longer and prep myself for Uni is in the works - everything for a few minutes longer under the sheets.

National Glamour Day

Today is National Glamour Day (for those located in the Netherlands and Belgium). It's kinda been a tradition for me and one of my best mates, one we have created ever since we knew each other, which is 5 years already! Basically we head off to Amsterdam and it's a day full of shopping, fun, food, gossiping catching up and indulging ourselves in the new autumn/winter collections. During NGD you receive 20% discount on all non-discounted pieces from at least 4500 stores, the only condition is that you need to bring the magazine Glamour with you (issue pictured above). After a full day of shopping, I thought I'd be nice to share some moments with you.

Starry Nights -
Super Gorgeous September #26

It might be an understatement when I say I have a nail fetish. My babe of a sister reminded me on the weekends what a ridiculous amount of polishes I have by auditing the entire stash. Results show how much of a hoarder I am and the money I've 'invested' in this collection is mind blowing. You've got to decide for yourself if that's a good or a bad thing. Anyhoo, while scrummaging through all the bottles, I bumped into some long-hidden colours that I'd completely forgotten. Thanks, sis.

Just In: Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier

If you've been following my blog for a while or follow me on either twitter or Instagram, you know I love figs. Especially entering autumn, it's one of my favourite fruits to eat and scents to wear. As my beloved Diptyque Figuier candle burned out, I was already sobbing and dreading the days I had to go fig-free. With luck on my side, I received a little parcel yesterday evening with two goodies in from Roger & Gallet.

My Favourite Lipstick -
Super Gorgeous September #24

I have a huge lipstick collection and while my dearest sister was rummaging in my beauty stash last weekend and auditing every item in my stash, I came back in touch with an old flame. Dior Addict Extreme has been one of my favourite lipstick ranges, just because the texture is so creamy and has the greatest range of colours that are flattering for my skin tone. Though you can imagine it's insanely hard to pick one favourite in the bunch, I can say in a blink of an eye that, that is Chèrie Bow for me.

It's not.a.sponge*

... or maybe it is. When I got contacted by Maggie from not.a.sponge* to try some of their sponges, I was hesitant. With the array of beauty tools I already have and am using, could this be my next big thing? Well, they got me at natural, pure and Konjac. Yeah, I'm a softy.

Current Craze -
Super Gorgeous September #22

As Uni commenced, the hunt for a school and work appropriate bag has, too. The type of bag I really have been lusting after for years is satchel from The Cambridge Satchel Company. The quality, craftsmanship, style, colour - simply everything is perfect. That's why recently, they've become my craze-object, again.

FOREO LUNA

I'm a big lover on everything Swedish - I love me some IKEA furniture, DAIM chocolate. I wish my closet was filled with all things COS and & Other Stories and I love all things that live and breathe simplicity. When word got out that a Swedish brand released an electronic device to cleanse with, I simply had to get it. FOREO LUNA is simply everything that I love so much about the Swedes. Everything and more.

Just In: YSL Glossy Stain #31

If you take a look through my archive, you might notice the amount of posts related to lip products. I'm a lipstick junkie. Guilty as charged. With autumn appearing more and more, I just felt like I needed a new lipstick, a new colour. Please don't start asking me about their correlation, because I wouldn't know where to start explaining. So taking a swoop in the beauty section, I knew I wanted something from Yves Saint Laurent. They always manage to create classy packaging and their formulas are the bomb. That's when I decided to settle with a YSL Glossy Stain in #31.

A Girl Can Never Have Enough Pink Lipsticks

The past year I've been lucky enough to be able to travel quite a few times and somehow I just made it a 'tradition' to get a Chanel lipstick every time I enter an airport. This all without being conscious of the consistency of my purchases. Of course I am to blame for each of them, but hey, a girl always can use some Chanel. And as I'm not able to feed my appetite with anything from their fashion lines yet, I guess I have to settle with their beauty range. Not that I'm complaining....

Udo's Oil

After having worked in the Beauty Industry for over 9 months, I can say that I've become more knowledgeable and cautious regarding buying new beauty products. No longer will I just buy things just because a famous blogger has reviewed it marvellously or when it's been featured in ELLE or VOGUE. Nope. Now I am very conscious whether a product is packed with nasties, whether it's organic, natural and what exactly is on the ingredient list, both regarding beauty and health.

I've stressed many, many times that treating your skin from the outside is not enough and it's very important to be conscious of what you eat and put inside your body. Today I'd like to stress out a product I've been testing for a good 8 weeks, which is Udo's Oil. Not only does it have great benefits for your body, it's a great addition to your beauty routine, too.

Trying Something New -
Super Gorgeous September #13

As a beauty obsessed person I sometimes just can't help myself from not buying and trying (new) beauty products. If I was able to refrain myself, I probably would've had a very impressive savings account balance. Though, I'm completely happy how I am right now, testing all kinds of cool beauty bits, however my skin may not agree with it all the time. Trying all kinds of new skincare and make up products have aggravated my skin and caused a massive break out, located very un-charmingly on the cheeks and chin. Marvelous.

What's In My Make Up Bag -
Super Gorgeous September #11

Remember I did a post to guesstimate how much my make up bag was worth. Well, regard this as a follow-up post. After the 'intervention' I realised that carrying make up thats worth more than the money in my wallet is maybe not the best thing to do. And besides that, it's bloody heavy to carry everything with me every day. Especially with Uni starting, down-sizing was bloody necessary. So here it is, an updated what's in my make up bag post. Out with all the nitty-gritty and in with the crème-de-la-essentials. It's the Uni edition.

Just In: BECCA

Each time when the postman arrives with a parcel that has my name on it, I do a little celebration dance. I just love receiving post. Whether it's a silly card or a parcel with things I've ordered through online shopping, I'm as excited as a little kid in a candy store. So after rushing down the stairs and yanking the door open, I was greeted by a postman holding several packages for me. The one that had me most excited was one with 4 letters on it: B-E-C-C-A. *heavenly music cue*

How-To: New York Fashion Week Fix

You must be living under a rock if you haven't seen many posts, tweets, blogs flying by about the most important bi-annual fashion event: Fashion Week. First stop: NYC. As I'm no where near the City nor the chance of having a (front row) seat at any show, I'm getting my NYFW fix through certain mediums and certain people. Yes, I'm aware of the gazillion people that are reporting on this phenomenon, so here's my list of people you must follow on Instagram to stay up to date on the latest happenings in the City that never sleeps.

Must-Try -
Super Gorgeous September #9

Ever since I picked up Mavala Double-Lash when I lived in Paris, I've been hooked. My lashes were the typical 'Asian lashes' - short, dark and curling in the wrong direction (aka pointing straight-forward). When I was on my monthly shopping-spree in my favourite hotspot in Saint Germain-des-Près on Rue du Four, I had a mission to find something that'd lengthen my lashes. I picked this up as it was one of the cheaper alternatives available and decided to give it a go. Didn't have much to lose anyways.

Favourite Nail Polishes -
Super Gorgeous September #8

I'm a big nail polish lover, I think I can even say that I'm obsessed. Back in the day (with that I mean a few years ago) I used to change up my nail polish every other day, if not every day. Just because I could and it just bored me very fast. With that in mind, you can imagine that my nail polish collection is huge. Which is an understatement. Because it was impossible for me to capture everything, I gave it a little twist and am showing you a selection of my favourite polishes.

And Then There Were Figs

When the likes of Laura Mercier create nice, fig-y scented products, you obviously spend money to buy them. Laura Mercier is deep in my heart for many reasons 1) I love their philosophy behind 'Flawless Face' 2) I'm hooked on their make up range and 3) Their scents and body range are simply brilliant. Today I'm highlighting the latter. Laura Mercier's Eau Gourmande line simply will meet everyones' noses with their Vanilla, Crème de Pistache, Crème BruléeAlmond Coconut Milk and Fresh Fig range. I'll tell you this: I'm completely smitten with their Fresh Fig range. Obviously.

Hair Me Out

Oily roots, dry ends? Yep, the story of my life. Ever since I permed the ends of my hair (yes, I know what you're thinking and no I don't look like a poodle), they have been very sensitive and immensely dry. These past few weeks I've been using an army of hair products to keep my ends healthy and smooth without adding extra nourishment to my no-extra-oil-needing-roots.

The 5 Product Challenge -
Super Gorgeous September #4

I'm actually really enjoying these tiny candid posts and I hope you do too. I'll try not to overwhelm you guys with too many of these posts as I won't blog all SGS topics throughout the month. Do keep in touch on twitter and Instagram (#SuperGorgeousSept). I'd love to see your take on the '5 Product Challenge'.

Topshop Lipstick Crystal

Topshop has proven to be good both in designing clothes and creating make up. I have to admit that I was rather late to the Topshop make up party, but the important thing is that I've joined. The only things I've tried so far are their lipsticks, which are amazing. Today we're talking Crystal. It might look slightly horrifying for some, but it is so different when applied. In a bloody good way.

It's a Pink World -
Super Gorgeous September #3

After looking at the list for a very, very long time, I've decided that I will be participating in Super Gorgeous September. If you're not sure what I'm talking about: there is a list with 30 things noted to snap a picture of throughout the month September. These can vary a lot, but all remain beauty related. Although I missed the first two days, I'll try to keep it up as much as possible throughout the month. Today it's all about pink.

A 15 Second Cleansing Oil

With my current obsession with oils, I had to try the latest high-street addition to the skincare isles. It's gone with the expensive, non-approachable cleansing oils with L'Oréal Skin Perfection Cleansing Oil added to the ball game.
