The Paris Wife

Ever since I was a little girl I've loved books: reading or being surrounded by them was an activity I loved and it comes as no surprise that as a young teen I spend lots of time in the library returning my books and then taking a big batch home to read. I think I've mentioned before that since I got my Kindle I've been reading a lot more as books are more accessible and easier to bring with me wherever I go, which gave me the idea to start a little series regarding a book or books that I've been reading in the past week(s). Do let me know what you think of this new feature. I can read anything really and expect it to go from classics to novels to thrillers to fiction. The book I've read lately, and which I'll be talking about today, is The Paris Wife by Paula Mclain.

What I've Been Loving (January 2014)

I've never understood why people associate January as the month that's most depressive or why there's 'Blue Monday'. Heck, why not a 'Pink Saturday' every month? Aside from my rant, January has been one crazy, hectic month for me. My semester is ending and that came with lots of deadlines of projects, reports, essays, presentations and well... lots of Uni things. Right now I'm done with my exams and those deadlines, but I'm prepping for another battle already - my graduation. I'm going to write my thesis starting from next week Monday and that means I'll have to start commuting horrible hours. Yikes. With the stress that's coming for me and the stress I've had in the past month, these bits have dragged me through and made almost every evening facial worthy. Except those all-nighters.

Something Swedish

It is not a secret I am rather biased towards all things Swedish, they just are totes my style. Simplicity at its best I'd say. So when cult-hair care brand SASCHA JUAN hit the shores and landed a crazy buzz in the beauty community, I had to try something from their range. Not being a diligent hair treatment user, I thought I'd get more bang for my buck when investing in a good Volumnising range. After one bottle of Shampoo and half a bottle of Conditioner, I've come to my verdict.

Super Toning Pack

Although this post sounds more like a two for one at your local supermarket, I swear it isn't. If you've read my New Year's Resolutions post, then you must know that one of them was to tone up, lose weight and work out. Sadly for me, it hasn't worked out that well, and the only thing I can blame are the last weeks of my semester at Uni and myself for not kicking butt. So with me being home-bound most of the time, I had to find something that would be at the comfort of my own home and that would be hassle-free. I've been playing around with the whole body brushing treatments thang and have finally found the products that work great on their own and even better together.

Chanel CC Cream

It's taken me a while to post about the Chanel CC Cream, simply because I haven't been using it a lot ever since I got it. Shocker. I love me some Chanel, be it fashion, beauty or lifestyle wise, and all the times I've gotten something I've been blown away by it, though this time... Not by a long chalk.

Nail Envy

I promised my sister that I wouldn't spend money on buying new nail polishes anymore, because 1) I've got a shit load of products already (3 drawers filled to the brim to be exact) and 2) she accumulated all products and the amount she roughly calculated scared the socks off me. Though with Essie having the colours I (sort of) didn't have in my stash and CND selling one of the most talked about nail treatments, I simply had to do something. And that something was hopping online and ordering me some nail goodness.

Breaking My Neck

Don't worry, I haven't broken my neck (yet), though it certainly feels this way. I've been studying non-stop for the past 72 hours with toilet-, food-, shower- and sleep breaks, but besides that I've been staring at my books and notes, and now my neck feels like it's detached from my body. Today is the official start of my (hopefully) last exam period in my Bachelors degree, which is very exciting! Unfortunately as I've been wrapped up in course work, I haven't had the time to write today's blog, so just a quick update instead - Wednesday the blog will be back on track again. Now I'm off reading through my notes one last time before the exam takes place. Wish me luck!

Wrapped Up In Books

I've stressed it quite a few times already that I'm an avid reader. A good book, a hot cuppa tea and a comfy chaise is all I need. As an aftermath of not spending money on beauty products, I headed onto Amazon and clicked my way through some books that I had to have in my possession. What can I say... My fingers were just itching to empty my bank account. I don't really have a specific genre that I read, I can read anything as long as I understand the language, but I do love books in the Health & Well-Being, Thriller, Food and Literature section. I've got a Kindle, which I love to read from, but some books you just have to have in your bookshelf, and not a virtual one.

Just In: REN Hot Cloth Cleanser

REN is a brand you probably have spotted on the blog a gazillion times, which they deserve fair and square. Whether it's a new product launch or an all-time favourite, they never seem to disappoint me.So when I received the REN Hot Cloth Cleanser around Christmas, I was super excited. I love trying out new cleansers and especially if it's from one of my go-to brands.

Stila Color Me Pretty

Those that know me well would agree with the statement that I've got a slight weakness (or a major obsession) with palettes, kits and sets. It's like the world gave me a valid reason to buy something and save money at the same time. Let's not get too deep into that last statement, but you beauty junkies know what I'm talking about. When Kate mentioned the Stila Color Me Pretty palette in her Christmas Gift Ideas, I gasped and headed onto Beauty Bay within 30 seconds and 2 minutes later, I received my order confirmation email. Done and dusted.

Bootie Call

Winter has barely been winter this year, I'd most probably call it a cold-autumn, but nothing more than that. I love my ankle boots and I haven't worn anything else last autumn, this winter. As I'm not the tallest kid in town, I like to have a chunky and short heel to my boots to elongate my legs and also because I simply can't drive with heels that are too high. These pairs are the ones I've been wearing throughout the past months and are the most comfy shoes I've got in my possession. When taking this picture I forgot where I put my Michael Kors Chelsea Boots so they're not in this picture (I found them in their shoebox instead of on the floor...), but I think I've been wearing that pair the most. Comfy yet stylish, that's my kind of shoe.

balance Me. Rose Otto Oil

I've read somewhere that skin sensitivity may lead to skin ageing, and as I just entered my twenties not too long ago, I'd like to push the ageing of my skin as far away as humanly possible. By doing so with the help of an army of nifty and natural skincare products. Having tried quite a few face oils the past few weeks (or months?), I've made up my mind and have selected quite a few impressive ones. Today, I give you, balance Me. Rose Otto Face Oil.

Naturalmente Hair Care

Over the past few months I've been slowly incorporating natural and organic products in my skin and body care routine, and it wouldn't be fair for my locks to not be able to enjoy the same perks. Though I realised that finding natural products for the hair was a task I strongly underestimated, and left me helpless. So when I was given the opportunity to try Naturalmente - an all natural and organic hair care brand, I accepted that with open arms.

The Bucket Bag

Although I'm not really talking about fashion very often on here, I do love everything about it. I can spend hours flicking through fashion books, and love everything from shoes, accessories, bags and clothes. Though if I had to pick one: I'm a definite bag person. What can I say... I managed to pick up the much anticipated Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag in Flamma right before Christmas. Lucky me, as all bags are sold out (worldwide) and a new batch will come in late February/early March this year. Luck is on my side for once.

REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum

If you're following my blog for quite some time now, you know that I've been suffering from break outs for the past few months now, which has left my skin very sore and sensitive (read: red). So when I was browsing the Net for something that could possibly make life easier, I bumped into the REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum. Something that would make the red blotches on my face appear less, well... red.

Winter Blues

I've got to admit that this winter has been one of the mildest one I can remember. No crazy snow falls, no natural ice-skating rinks or temperatures below Celsius. That being said, it's still necessary to crank up the heater from time to time, which means swopping some skincare products in my routine to avoid the oh-so-flattering flaky bits on my skin.

New Year, New Resolutions

Happy new year everyone. Thank you so much for still sticking around and hope you'll have the most wonderful, healthy, fun and prosperous 2014! I know it's the most cliché post of the entire year, but I thought it'd be nice to reflect upon myself and set some New Year's resolutions for myself. I took a quick peek of my list from last year, which made me realise I really suck at these. I think I've only managed to do two resolutions out of my entire list, which is rather sad. So I will do my best to diligently follow all my resolutions to become a better human being. Okay, well that's a bit too deep, but you know what I mean.
