Eye See

February 14, 2014

Often the (under) eye area gets neglected, even though it is the most delicate part of the skin, and the the part which shows signs of ageing. Yes, I was one of those people who applied eye cream like it was a part time job, until a year or two ago, when eye creams became a staple in my day and night routine. Different seasons equals different skin needs, so I've made a selection of my favourite eye treatments that I can always fall back on.

SAMPAR Eye Rule
This is my most recent discovery actually. I've been using this non-stop for the past month and I love it. Compared to most rollerball-applicator eye creams, this one is a cream, rather than a runny gel making it oh so nourishing. With the applicator you can really use it to increase blood circulation and de-puff the under eye area. Another problem I always had with roll-on eye products is that I always had too much product. SAMPAR has thought about this and at the end of the applicator it has a click, which works just like a pen. Click it gently and the product comes out. After massaging it in, I gently tap the excess product into the skin. It also claims to be anti-ageing, which I can't confirm asI don't have wrinkles near my eyes (yet) —thank god. Though, this is hands down, the best eye de-puffer.

H2O Moisture Replenishing Treatment
You don't have to be great in science to know that H2O equals water, which equals hydration. As simple as that formula goes, as straightforward are the effects of this product. It contains nutrient-rich marine botanicals, which help to soothe and calm the skin, making the eye area appear brighter. Also, with a blend of (pro) Vitamins B, C and E, it protects the skin from environmental exposure and aids in cell renewal. It is really gentle and it gives my skin the hydration boost it needs every now and then.

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
I've been purchasing this on and off for quite a few years, and it's the one I always fall back on and never disappoints. Containing -Vitamin A, and Avocado Oil, it is nourishing and yet not heavy or sticky on the skin. Some creamy eye creams I've tried in the past were too nourishing or slick, causing concealer to slip away throughout the day, and this chap ain't like that. Nourishment at its best.

Clinique All About Eyes
This number is actually my first eye cream, ever. The best way to describe it would be to say it is the Moisture Surge for eyes. Slightly de-puffing and cooling while adding a boost of moisture at the same time. No fuss product, and simply does what it claims. It is a tad more 'wet' than the others I've mentioned so far, so do take time to pat it into the skin and wait before you follow with your moisturiser/oil.

REN Active 7 Radiant Eye Gel
I believe they've changed the name and packaging of the product slightly, but the formula remained the same (at least, that's what I've been told). It's great to use on mornings and I've tucked this number in my long haul flight bag, which was a blessing. It is formulated with a bunch of lovely ingredients which de-puff, hydrate, nourish, soothe the skin while keeping the moisture in. I usually take this with me when I'm travelling because it is easy to take with and it literally just takes seconds to apply. I always try to keep my beauty routines as simple and short as possible when I'm staying over at non-beauty loving friends, as I don't want to scare them with my array of beauty products, so this is a blessing from the sky.

  5. I've never found a good eye cream that satisfies my needs; I may try the Clinique or the REN one, which sound both lovely!
