Just In: MAC Bold Spring

Another lipstick purchase within two weeks. Yep, highly time for a new one. I can't promise you this will be the last one, because it won't. The last time I bought anything from MAC or even passed their counter was at duty-free in Heathrow, 9 months ago. Rewind to last weekend, with the most gorgeous spring weather —before I realised it, I sneaked in a MAC lipstick in my basket. I'm not one to go crazy for purple toned lipstick, but hey, the sun was shining and my fingers were itching for a funky and different colour that wasn't the usual peach or red.

MAC Bold Spring is a shade from their latest Mineralize Rich range and I was sold immediately after swatching it. The formula is slightly glossy, really hydrating and adds a good punch of colour to the lips which is very buildable. The shade Bold Spring is a deep blue, fuchsia pink with cool undertones, which is oh-so-flattering on all skin tones. It looks warmer and more pink in the swatch than it is in real life, but that is due to the lighting (first picture is more true to its colour). I would say it's slightly more comfortable to wear than a Cremesheen formula and the wearibility is about the same. As it has a glossy finish it doesn't stay on the lips when eating/drinking (at least not with the amounts I tested it with) but it wears of nicely like a stain. It lasted approximately 3 hours on me. The perfect lip to wear when you're feeling bold on a beautiful spring day.

What is your favourite MAC lipstick formula?

  2. I've only tried their Matte and Cremesheens (and this one too), which I all really like. And yes, this is definitely a fun lipstick! I've gotten so many compliments when I've worn this, which I normally don't get. Colleagues and friends all loved it. I think it'd look very nice on you too!

  4. I've never tried Lustre's – I found them a tad too shiny for my taste, though they do have some stunning shades.
