Sheer Bases

If you've been following the blog for a while, you know that the complexion of my skin has improved so much and I've been able to opt for sheer to light bases instead of full coverage foundations. Especially when the sun is out and it's starting to get a bit warmer aka) Sweaty Betty weather, I don't like to pile on products. I've finally found 3 of my recent favourite sheer bases that you just can't dislike.

Pixi H2O Skin Tint in Cream
I'm not a whizkid in science, but I'm pretty sure we all know h20 stands for water, which equals hydration. The Skin Tint literally feels exactly like that. Packed with antioxidants such as Green Tea and Rose Water to moisturise and Chamomile and Lavender to soothe the skin, the product has very sheer coverage and leaves the skin slightly dewy and really hydrates the skin well throughout the day. The texture is like a gel and because of that it needs a bit more time and effort to blend into the skin. I would definitely put this in the tinted moisturiser category as the coverage is very sheer, but very buildable. Effortless beauty, anyone?

balance Me. BB Natural Perfection SPF25
If you've seen my natural spring make up look, then you might've spotted this one as my base. It's the perfect imperfection blurring, dewiness-in-a-bottle product. As most balance Me. products, it's 99% natural and contains Absyssinian, Rosehip Oil and Blackberry Leaf extract, which help to firm and smooth the surface and hydrate of the skin. Lotus Flower and Violet Seed extracts help to calm and even out the skin. It's got SPF25 with UVB and UVA protection, which is brilliant for the current weather, although I would recommend wearing a regular sunscreen underneath it. It only comes in one shade, so I'm not sure whether this would fit very pale or very dark skinned girls.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser in Finland
This number probably provides the most coverage out of the 3, but is still very natural and sheer in coverage. I actually wore this to the office the other day and the first thing my colleague said to me was "Wow, you look so zen today", which I took as a compliment. Okay, maybe me looking zen was partly because I handed in my first draft of my thesis/dissertation, but I was also wearing this. It simply gives my skin a very natural glow, and makes my skin look brighter and healthier. I don't really believe in the skin improving properties of the product, but it does contain SPF30 and PA+++. And hey, if someone compliments me on my complexion, I'll wear this till death do us part.

  1. Hi, I was wondering on how do you use the NARS TM? Do you use it in place of foundation or as a 3 in 1 product replacing moisturiser + sunscreen + foundation? I'm contemplating on purchasing but since it's NARS, I don't want to just blindly getting it without thorough research. Thank you :-)

  2. I have used and loved Nars TM in the past and now I have moved to Dior's BB creme. Its pretty good and I have a very good color match!

  3. To me all tinted moisturisers are simply make up bases, so I make sure to properly moisturise and lather up sunscreen before I put any base on. I've got combination-oily skin, and although it does keep my skin moisturised, it wouldn't be moisturising enough as a moisturiser on its own. Hope this helps!

  4. Which one? I've tried both and find Hydra Life more moisturising and actually prefer it texture wise. I just wish their colour selection was broader as I'm unable to pull it off without a tan.

  5. I thought I was over lusting for the NARS Tinted Moisturizer, but if someone complimented you on how good it looks, then I think I need to get it. x

  7. Ah right, the staying power is brilliant, though I wouldn't say I don't have other preferences.

  8. HA, right? I think you'll love it if you're looking for something sheer. For reference: Jouer Matte Moisture Tint is definitely higher in coverage.

  9. I got a deluxe sample of Dior BB cream and loved it. Ever since I have been wanting to pick up the full size...as soon as I clear out a few of my current bases.
