Fresh Matters

Something fresh, something conservative free, something good. Well, let me show you something that just ticks all those boxes in one go. Yep, that brand is LUSH. I've always loved their Fresh Face Masks and Tea Tree Tablets, but their other products never really appealed to me. That was until got word on this year's summer line. And girls, let me tell you this: it's good.

If you're looking to nourish your skin post-shower, African Paradise Body Conditioner is your gal. I'm not one for hair conditioner, but I strangely love this lil' black pot of goey heaven. Infused with Shea Butter, Moringa Oil, Aloe Vera, Ylang Ylang-, Baobab- and Marula Oil, it's a mix of nourishing and calming ingredients in one. You apply this when you've finished showering when the skin is still wet. Rub it in, rinse off when you're done and silky soft skin awaits you. The only pitfall: it is an extra step that requires a bit more effort than others, hence I only do this whenever I've got the extra few minutes (which is either after my work outs or in the weekends).

Next up, D'Fluff Shaving Soap, which is a pink (!), strawberry flavoured shaving cream which is gentle enough to use everywhere - think face, legs, armpits and well, your private parts. The soap is infused with Coconut Oil, Golden Syrup, Ahorn, Vanilla, Wild Orange Oil and Rose Absolute. It's got this marshmallow-ish texture to it and smells incredible. If you're not into shaving, you can use it as a body wash. I find this actually is really good for shaving and prefer it better to the traditional shaving creams, which tend to leave a film on my skin and irritate my skin.

Zest is a hair gel that looks like jelly and smells a bit odd to be honest. It is infused with petitgrain, orange and neroli oils, the latter being very nourishing. I'm not a gel user to begin with, but I find this really hard to apply and use, because it bounces back when you touch it. Not quite sure about this product and will definitely try to play with it a bit more.

I know I shouldn't pick sides, but my favourite offerings are most definitely their soap bars. Mangnificent is a very zesty bar, blended with the sweetness of mango and the freshness of Lemon, Mandarin and Neroli Oil. It's packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, for a great boost to your skin. You can use it both on your face and body, but I personally like to use this in the morning as a pick me up. Parsley Porridge is a very gentle soap, perfect for those with troubled skin. It's infused with Tea Tree, Parsley, Grapefruit, Aloe Vera and Oats, which act as a gentle exfoliator. However, unless you rub the bar directly on your face you won't feel any exfoliation. At first I thought this'd be way too drying for my skin, but it's actually really gentle. I haven't used this enough so I can't say whether this really helps clearing up blemishes. Watch this space...

  1. All of these sound so good. i haven't tried many things from LUSH, but I think the appeal is growing. x

  2. I miss Lush! They closed shops here this Jan, promising to be back but there is no sign yet! Magnificent sounds like a good one to try.. I am back to using soaps in the bath and it feels great! I really like L'occitane shea butter soaps.. the are something else! :-)

  3. Oh man... I go through phases where I get super obsessed with Lush for a few months and then it peters out. These summer newbies have definitely caught my eye though, especially the African Paradise Body Conditioner. May have to go make a pit stop...;)

  4. The African Paradise Body Conditioner sounds so good! I've never been that good in putting on a body conditioner though, since I take the quickest showers in the world :P

    Eat. Live. Love. Repeat.

  5. Ah you must give these a whirl. LUSH has great a great sample policy as well, so you can just hop in and ask for a sample for the product you're interested in.

  6. Oh no, that sounds awful! L'Occitane do hand & body products so well, definitely one of my faves out there.

  7. I know what you mean, I don't even visit LUSH that often... They really hit the nail with this collab though!

  8. It's really nice, but I do agree that it's quite a hassle. Definitely reserved for the days that I have all the time of the world for a pamper.
