City Trip Essentials

When you read this I'll be either at the airport sipping my Americano, spending too much time (and money!) at Duty Free, boarding my plane... or I've arrived in sunny Lisbon! Over the years I've done quite a few city trips, which indirectly kinda makes me a city trip expert. Not really... But over the years I did fine-tune my packing skills, at least I think.

An unmissable staple when I'm travelling is my mini Bioderma Sensibio H2O —it's compact and takes off make up like a dream. I've realised that my skin loves gel cleansers when it's hot and humid, which is why I packed MyChelle Fruit Enzyme Cleanser, which is packed with enzymes and gently exfoliates the skin, leaving it brighter and softer. To follow up I'd use REN Tonic Moisture Mist for an added boost of Hyaluronic Acid, Clinique Moisture Surge All About Eyes and Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet, which is a very light moisturiser and literally feels like applying water to the skin. SAMPAR Prodigal Pen is safely tucked into the bag for the odd blemish that might pop up, post-plane journey.

Of course, Moroccan Oil Light Treatment can't be forgotten as my ends always get so dry and brittle when it's hot and humid. NUXE Rêve du Miel Chapstick is a staple for reasons I won't bore you with (again) and I got a travel size of Aveda's Stress Fix Body Lotion to wind down in the evening. The latter combined with Molton Brown Eucalyptus Shower Gel is like a formula for a party in your bathroom, as it's relaxing, yet very refreshing —if that makes sense.

SPF wise, I've brought the Garnier xx (body) and Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Defense SPF45 (face). Both options are super lightweight and don't feel sticky at all. To treat the skin post-sun, I'm counting on Avène's Aftersun Lotion to repair and calm the skin. I'm only bringing one scent, which is a mini Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin Cologne.

As for make up, I'm only bringing NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser and BECCA Matte Skin Shine Proof Foundation, which I'll probably wear in the evenings for some extra coverage. My Bobbi Brown Under Eye Corrector and RMS 'Un' Cover-Up Concealer cannot be forgotten, as I wouldn't know what to do without this combo. As for brows, I'm keeping it simple with Anastasia Brows Clear Brow Gel. Laura Mercier Bonne Minne Trio will cover the bronzer, blush and highlighter department, where Maybelline's Baby Lips and NARS Satin Lip Pencil will cover the lips.

A few handbag essentials are hair ties, Boscia Blotting Papers to soak up all the greasiness from my face, balance Me. Super Moisturising Hand Cream to nourish the hands and Caudalie Beauty Elixir to freshen up throughout the day. And those who think this is way too much: my mum has always taught me to be prepared for any occasion or emergency when leaving the house. So this one I blame on you, mum.
