And I Finally Caved...

If I would get a penny for each glowing review on the Armani Luminous Silk foundation, I'd be a very, very wealthy lady. After a year of teasing myself, I finally bit the bullet and just went for it (the fact that I still had some credit left on a gift card may have helped a bit as well).

Without boring you with the details that everyone has already written about, yada yada yada, let me recap the foundation in just four words: Luminous. Silk. Is. Bloody. Amazing. Oops, that was five, but still, you get what I mean. As a foundation-gal, I take my bases very seriously. Having suffered with acne with most of my life (so far), I need that bit of coverage to feel good and confident about myself. And I've found Armani Luminous Silk to be a product that just ticks all the boxes, and doesn't make you look like you've got a ton on your face.

It's definitely a medium to full coverage foundation and for the coverage it gives you, it feels very lightweight on the skin. Actually, I'll go as far to say that I actually forgot that I wore it —yes, it was that light. Because it's so light, it's very easy to build up the coverage without looking like you're attending a cake-fest (the one you'd rather not attend).

What else can I say about this... It's definitely an investment, but you get a bang for your buck. The shade range is a bit weird, so I definitely would recommend checking the product in person and getting shade matched. At the time when I bought it, I got matched to shade 4, which would be my perfect late-Autumn/Winter/Spring shade. Oh, right. I completely forgot to mention the best part of the foundation: it's SPF free, baby! Meaning, no more crazy-white-ghost-face pictures for me anymore. Bring on the flash photography!

  5. Is it really as good as they say!? I have mild acne scarring as well, and now this is on my wishlist! I'm so excited to hear that it is medium-full coverage without the cakefest!

  8. I often am so sceptical about products that are very hyped up, but this is worth all the buzz it gets.

  9. Haha, so true, and thanks! I'm glad I finally bit the bullet ;-)

  11. Ah that's me exactly. I went to the counter a gazillion times, but each time the MUA was busy so I just took it as a sign that it wasn't meant to be, until recently. Trust me, you won't regret it. And if you're really hesitant, ask if they can shade match you or give you a sample so you can play with it yourself.

  12. It is! The texture of it is quite runny, so you can easily blend it and get more coverage out of it. Of course a good concealer also helps ;-)

  13. Me too, I was so sceptical at first, but I'm glad I did give it a try.

  14. Heard so many great things about this - I too am trying to resist the urge to buy this, Im so attached to my Nars sheer glow foundation.

  15. I saw this in a Sephora in Montreal a couple weeks back and was so tempted to purchase it but the price tag was just so hard to justify. I'll definitely have to keep my eyes out for it again and request a sample next time. xx

  16. "Is it everything you thought it would be?" Hahaha.

A whie back, I got a few samples of Luminous andddd... I didn't like it. WHAT I know. Maybe it was because once I got home, I thought the shade was too dark. Maybe because I specifically asked for Lasting Silk (I have oily skin), but the SA pushed the Luminous samples on me. Lol.

Glad you're having such an awesome time with it. You're a foundation gal, huh? Can you give me a rec for oily skin? So far I've tried NARS Matte Glow, Cle de Peau, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. I still prefer my MAC Studio Fix :P

  18. Yes, I agree, the price tag is quite steep. Though I'd definitely recommend to ask for a sample first so you can play a bit with it to see whether it suits you and your skin.

  19. Ah, the shade selection is quite tricky indeed --there are just too many to choose from. But I'm so sorry to hear your skin didn't get on with Luminous Silk. I guess it can be a bit too luminous on oily skin gals. I'm combination/oily and I found it lasting very well on me + some blotting sheets always save the day.

I do love my foundations and gosh you've tried quite a few high end ones ha! I'd definitely recommend trying BECCA Matte Skin Shine Proof Foundation and Chanel Perfection Lumiere. The latter is a bit of a love/hate foundation, but that's why there are samples ;-). Hope this helps!

  20. This sounds amazing! I love fuller coverage foundations but hate the feeling of some that suffocate your face. Being a student, I never tempt myself by walking into the high end counters but this is so so tempting!
Just found your blog and already followed, loving it!

  21. I've got a feeling you'll love this, though I'd definitely recommend asking for a sample first before splurging (or like I call it: investing). Thanks so much for following and your kind words, means a lot to me xx
