Falling In Love With ILIA

When people say organic lipsticks, the first brand that pops up in my mind is ILIA. Raved and adored by green beauty bloggers, as a lipstick junkie myself, I had to try these. I've been hooked ever since and I think this is a start of a very dangerous obsession. And if the researches are right, and we do eat 7 pounds of lipstick in a lifetime, I might as well treat myself to something healthy, ha!

At the end of my summer internship, I decided it was okay to treat myself to a gift and as I couldn't decide which colour to go for, I got two. ILIA Tinted Lip Conditioner in Nobody's Baby is a very nourishing tinted lip balm that is just the perfect nude for me. It's very sheer, but really easy to build up. I love wearing this at all times: be it when I'm just headed for Uni, buying groceries, having lunch with friends or just taking a stroll in the park.

That being said, when I'm headed out for drinks or simply want to wear a (matte) bold lip, ILIA Lipstick in Around The World (a Net-a-Porter exclusive) is simply perfect. I'd say it's more of a fuchsia on me, but the official description is 'a deep rose hue with a bold lavender tones'. The wear of this lipstick is amazing and very comfortable [esp. for a matte lipstick]. I had lunch with my friend at Wagamama the other day and after my entire bowl of food (which was a lot, proof here), my lipstick was still the same. Each time I've worn this, I've received so many compliments from friends. Saying how well it suits me and that I look so much brighter —okay that could also be the power of a bold lip. But honestly, I think I've found my perfect 'colder weather' lipstick colour.

What makes ILIA's lipsticks so special is that they are all free from synthetic fragrances and parabens. Each product is blended with up to 85% of bio-active organic ingredients, super nourishing Cocoa Butter, Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E. The lipstick bullet is a sleek, recycled aluminum case. The only problem I've got with the packaging is that it makes such a scratchy sound when it touches and for klutzes like me, the cap gets scratched quite easily. But besides that, it's all rainbows and butterflies, and I'll definitely be expanding my ILIA lipstick collection, watch this space...

  4. I'm not sure if they're as green, but I do know they are made with food-grade ingredients and free of polybutenes, sulfates and petroleum byproducts.
