The Empties Edit #4

Before I left for Leeds, I made sure to empty lots of products I've been using for a while, or just those tat were nearly empty but kinda neglected forgotten. Call me silly, but I'm quite proud with this long list of products that I managed to finish. Beware of a very lengthy post —don't say I didn't warn you.

balance Me. Super Toning Body Wash is a 99% natural shower gel that's very refreshing (it smells very uplifting) and infused with juniper, bergamot, geranium and lavender, which stimulate blood circulation, to detox and tone your body whilst showering. It's great to combine with body brushing or when you've had a work out. Definitely repurchase worthy.

Pixi Glow Tonic is most probably one of the most talked about toners int he beauty community, it's a Hirons recommendation after all. Sadly I think I'm the only one who doesn't get on with this. The first time I started using this (twice a day), it left me with dry and flakey skin. I've played a bit with the 'dosage' but I didn't notice my skin improving, nor did my spots and hyper pigmentation decrease. I probably won't repurchase, but I'm definitely in the market to trial more exfoliating toners.

If you've been following me for a very long time, you know I used to go a bit cray with my bi-weekly pharmacy visits when I still lived in Paris. I picked up TAAJ Miscellar Water on a whim to see whether it could replace my beloved Bioderma Sebium H20, but it's way too fragranced for my taste, left my skin feeling a bit tight and it stings my eyes. I guess the expression "If it's ain't broke, don't fix it" would be quite suitable.

It's definitely not the most chic thing to admit, but I've got quite oily scalp. Thinking that Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo would end my misery was a farfetched dream. It cleanses really thoroughly (it's packed with SLS after all) but left my scalp very sensitive and my ends very brittle. It actually had an adverse effect, resulting in oily roots the next day. Sigh... I still can't believe I've finally emptied the bottle!

You thought this was the end? HA, think again! Other bits I've emptied over the past few months were REN ClearCalm3 Mask (amazing and repurchase worthy —purifying, calming and spot reducting), DHC Cleansing Oil (removes all makeup with zero effort, one of the best cleansing oils I've tried) SACHAJUAN Volumnising Shampoo and Conditioner (not impressed), La Roche-Posay Serozinc (yes, again —it's my fifth bottle), KORRES Fig Shower Gel (smells amazing, but contains SLS), Kérastase Bain Divalent (good, but not amazing), L'Oréal Full Fibre Shampoo (gone through a few bottles, gives lovely volume, made my hair feel slightly thicker —though contains heaps of SLS) and Ancienne Ambiance Reed Diffuser in Ambra which lasted me roughly 5-6 months (full review here). And that's a wrap everybody. Another empties will follow in coming weeks, which will be much shorter, I promise.

  1. Not gonna lie, I hoard my empties over a quarter just so I have something to talk about. It just feels so good to watch the empties bag grow!

  3. It does give me a sense of fulfilment each time I finish a product, though sadly some products I barely can get a dent in. Sigh...
