What I've Been Loving (March 2014)

March has passed by so fast and I'm actually starting to worry about my thesis. It's the second month of my traineeship and I've only got three more to go, taking into account I've got to research, hold a focus group, analyse survey responses and write an advice based on all the information I'm accumulating. Sigh. Despite being über busy at work, I did spend lots of time bonding with this month's favourites.

National Glamour Day 2014

Yesterday it was that time of the year again, National Glamour Day. I've written about this last year, and many of you were really excited and interested in the event, so I thought I'd do a short re-cap of this year again. NGD is a long-time tradition one of my BFF and I have established when we just met in high school –bonding of the shopaholics, eh? The day simply consists of us heading to Amsterdam for a long, long day of shopping with a gossip-filled commute. And here I almost forgot the main point of NGD: you get 20% on 49 brands, nationwide. Best. Tradition. Ever.

Gone Girl

Despite Thrillers not being my movie genre, I love reading a good book full of suspense, tension, some dark stuff and a good screwed main character accompanied with a hot cuppa. Gilian Flynn has been one of my current fave author and today I’ll talk about her most recent big hit, Gone Girl, which has been talked about non-stop. Yes, it’s that good.

Just In: MAC Bold Spring

Another lipstick purchase within two weeks. Yep, highly time for a new one. I can't promise you this will be the last one, because it won't. The last time I bought anything from MAC or even passed their counter was at duty-free in Heathrow, 9 months ago. Rewind to last weekend, with the most gorgeous spring weather —before I realised it, I sneaked in a MAC lipstick in my basket. I'm not one to go crazy for purple toned lipstick, but hey, the sun was shining and my fingers were itching for a funky and different colour that wasn't the usual peach or red.

Cult Beauty Buyin'

Cult Beauty has been a bookmarked page in my browser for many years and without realising I have never bought anything from the site before. Their selection of (cult) beauty products is no joke and I wish I could buy everything. During their recent promotion, I decided to go with the mindset "go big, or go home" and a few days later a box arrived, filled with my kind of heaven.

Give it a Shot

Throughout the years I've tried so many different spot treatments that I lost the count or I should say I just didn't care anymore. I've tried everything from cult to drugstore to bloody darn expensive and only a handful made the cut and are still in my stash. As greedy and curious as I am, I always have to find the next best thing, even if something is working for me. This time I've found something that's 100% natural and it is packaged in a freaking syringe. Yeah, I had to give it a shot (pun intended).

The Longest Ride

Sometimes I don’t allow myself to think about purchasing something, and I end up getting it on a whim. Sometimes bad, most of the time good. This was the case for Nicholas Sparks’ The Longest Ride. Knowing Sparks’ other impressive works —e.g., The Notebook, The Best of Me, Safe Haven, Dear John— I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed, and I didn’t.

Slap it on, them Sunscreen

Spring has arrived and I couldn't be more excited. Growing up here [in the Netherlands], spring has definitely became my favourite season, as not only is my birthday in April, it's the season with the best weather. Yes, of course theres the occasional shower, but most of the time you get blue sky and sunny days. With our dearest sun making a frequent appearance, I've started wearing sunscreen again. Truth to be told, I've never been a fuss about sunscreen, until last year when I discovered Clinique City Sheer Sun Block SPF 25 – I've never looked back. Give me just 5 minutes, and you'll want this, too.

Spring Detox

Believe me or not, but in just 5 weeks I’ve gained back all the weight I’ve shed post – London. The culprit, you ask? It’s the bloody commute, I’m telling you. Having to wait for my next connection, or just simply the fact to kill time by snacking too much junk food. Spring is coming and I’m starting to feel uncomfortable with the weight I’ve gained and how the shape of my body is right now, hence I decided to kick start my Spring detox the easiest way possible: saying no to excessive snacking and yes to drinking lemon water.

The Empties Edit

It is not often that I get to finish products, mainly because of my curious and greedy nature. I just can't seem to stop trying and buying products —I guess that's why I'm a beauty blogger, eh?

Nature Perfect – DIY kit

I love me some DIY projects, especially when they involve skincare. I’m sure I won’t be the only one admitting they used to make concoctions out of flowers, their mum’s skincare and fragrances? Nature Perfect is a brand that makes DIY kits (with all natural ingredients) for the beauty-hungry and for those dare devils out there, there’s a possibility to customise your own as well. With dare devils, I obviously mean me.

Champagne Showers

Frankly, I've never been one to obsess over Clarins make up, but with their recent Spring collection 'Opalescense', the Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base caught my eye, got me rather excited and left me slightly tongue-twisted. A dewy primer that gives you a subtle glow, while neutralising imperfections? You don't have to say that twice.

Sleeping Beauty

Sleep is something I regard very dearly, especially since I started working full time again. As I work long (and late!) hours, I try to keep my evening pampers to the minimum, as I simply don't have the time for it, hence I have ventured into using products that do some magic overnight. Magic might be a strong choice of words, but hear me out on this one.

What I've Been Loving (February 2014)

This month passed by both fast and very slow at the same time. If you’ve been reading my posts from this month, you will have seen that I started another chapter in my life, in order to close another. I’ve concluded my first month as a trainee/graduate at my company and boy, this month was a lot of work. I’m sure it will only get harder on me, but my colleagues are lovely folks and in the end I’m doing it for me. This month’s favourites are a mishmash of random things that have dragged me through the past few weeks and showed me the silver lining.
