What I've Been Loving (July 2014)

Sun, humidity and lots of (big) announcements happened in July. The first two are self-explanatory and the latter? Well, apparently I will spend the next 12 months in England for a postgrad programme. I was planning to go back sooner or later, but I hadn't expected it to be so soon. I'm super excited for the next chapter in my life and what I just said doesn't relate to these favourites at all. It a random mix between a book, a gadget, a diary and some beauty bits chucked in the mix.

Lisbon Skincare Haul

Aside from sore feet, 758 pictures and awkward tan lines I rather not discuss, I also left Lisbon with a suitcase filled with some beauty purchases that aren't that easy to get hold off back home. I dashed in and out Duty Free, took a quick sprint in a nearby pharmacy and took a good look in an all natural/organic mini-mart. The result? I came, I saw, I bought it all...

When In Lisbon

Last week I went to Lisbon with my parents and sister to explore the beautiful city Lisbon in Portugal. I had such a great time and it's such a gorgeous and romantic city. Now I ain't a touring expert, but I did take us to some really cool places —even if I say so myself— and have of course taken pictures to share with you. For those who are thinking about going to visit Lisbon, I'd definitely recommend it. There are so many beautiful spots in the city with a lot of great food, especially a seafood-foodie's paradise. Fresh seafood, amazing weather and romantic views, what not to love?

My Summer Jam

Although I can't really say I'm a music connoisseur, I do love my jams. My music preference is kind of broad, some might think I'm a complete whacko, and even though I don't have a specific genre I must listen to [in Summer], I did caught myself shuffling a few albums on repeat for weeks now.

Best. Gadget. Ever.

When I was a little girl, my middle name used to be TV. Well, not really, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was. I was glued to the latter most of the day and you could spot me watching Sabrina The Teenage Witch or Saved By The Bell —Zach and Kelly 4Evah. However, over the years, I've spent less and less time behind the telly and more behind my laptop to catch up on shows and series. That was until I finally got the Google Chromecast. Everyone who doesn't own a Smart TV: go get one, now.

A Penny For Your Thoughts #14

... and like Oscar Wilde once said "Be yourself, everyone else is already taken". We all are different, which makes us unique, as we have our own different personalities, talents and preferences. Be it in school, uni, work or blogging – don't compete, just be yourself and that's all that matters.

City Trip Essentials

When you read this I'll be either at the airport sipping my Americano, spending too much time (and money!) at Duty Free, boarding my plane... or I've arrived in sunny Lisbon! Over the years I've done quite a few city trips, which indirectly kinda makes me a city trip expert. Not really... But over the years I did fine-tune my packing skills, at least I think.

Jet, Set, Go

Summer holidays have always been my fave, as it meant lounging all day with friends, barely doing anything and going on a (short) trip. Whilst that has been quite consistent over the years, this year it's a bit different as I'm an official postgrad now and am having a full schedule because of it. That being said, I'm finally going on my long awaited getaway, which'll be a short city trip to Lisbon, Portugal. Vamos!

The Mega Book Haul

Like I said [on Twitter], I might've gone a tad overboard with my recent book buying'... #BookWormMeetsShopaholic? I guess I won't have to be afraid to run out of book options this summer. I'm counting twelve books + a super cool diary —more on that in a bit. I've based the purchases on the book description, reviews and the cover, as it's kinda like buying art right? I jest, I jest.

Drugstore Haul

There are a few reasons why drugstore products don't make it on the blog very often. Simply because Dutch pharmacies aren't that exciting and frankly I haven't been wowed by many products in the past. However, in the past few months I've discovered quite a few cool drugstore products that actually work and have picked up the courage to trial more bits from the isles of a drugstore. That, and simply I need to save money after going a tad cray (watch this space and you'll know what I mean).

A Penny For Your Thoughts #13

I'm a material girl, living in a material world. Truth. Although it's the harsh reality, I sometimes catch myself not seeing the things I do have and only focus on the negative parts of life. Let's start the week on a positive note and let's realize how blessed we all are. Only happy thoughts allowed. *cue music*

Weekend Wish List #11

To commemorate me being a post graduate, I've kinda gone a bit cray with my (online) purchases during the past few weeks, which is only being fuelled by the sales signs hanging everywhere —more on that in the upcoming days. However, that has never stopped me from compiling a list with bits I've been meaning to buy. One of the many reasons why I love lists so much is that it's kinda works therapeutic for me... Confessions of a shopaholic much?

Fresh Flowers in a Spritz

If I've learned something during my Luxury Brand Management classes I took two years ago (in Paris, whoop!) is that Grasse is the place to be to hunt down noses. Now I don't mean choosing an image for a nose job, but I'm talking about genius people who create fragrances for the general public. Right, noses —le nez, like we'd say during class. Enough about facial features, as today I'm sharing my favourite home scent brand... ever? People, meet Ancienne Ambiance.

Mark Your Cup

Oh, how I love a little customisation on my products. The best invention ever? Markers. They are the easiest to work with and the cheapest alternative to pretty much everything. You've got textile markers when you want to go all Project Runway on your tees and porcelain markers when you want to glam-up your mugs.

What I've Been Loving (June 2014)

June has been such a crazy month and flew by like no other. I had a gazillion deadlines, presented my thesis, talked about the rise of beauty bloggers, proposed a brand activation plan, graduated, concluded my traineeship and signed up for a new one (which I've commenced already). Like Amelia would say: cray to the cray.

BeeGood

If you've been following me around for quite some time now, you may or may not have picked up that I like my natural products. No fuss, nasties-free skincare: that's just me. So when word got out that there was a new kid on the block that doesn't test on animals, is nasties-free, natural, and affordable. Heck, why wouldn't I try that?

Sephora Haulin'

If you've seen my Sephora wish list, you may have noticed that there are quite some things that have been swopped around for other products. In fact, I've only now realised that I've just ordered one thing from that initial list. Oops? My biggest regret is that I couldn't get a hold of the Bite Destructed Rose Library anymore, but hey, I compromised with other products to fill its absense. Be prepared for a haul packed with too many masks and lip products for one face.
