A Green Beauty Haul

I know what you must be thinking: 'WengYee, what happened to your New Year's resolutions?' Well, does it count that I ordered (nearly) all of these just before the new year started? The longer I blog and get to understand beauty products, the more I tend to steer away from chemical products and try to embrace the natural. Over the past few years I've been slowly (and I really mean slowly) integrating some bits and bobs in my routine and I think 2015 may be my year. And perhaps the year of green beauty? Anyone?

Trying an Odacit̩ oil had been on my to do list for months. With all my green blogging friends giving me more and more reasons to try it, I couldn't resist it anymore and took the plunge. With the current skin woes, I went for Odacite's Pa+G, also know as the Hyperpigmentation Booster. I've only tried this for about a week now and can't say much about the results yet, but I think I'm kinda loving what I'm seeing. Will report back with more soon! Continuing on the brightening front, I got Nourish's Kale Enzymatic Exfoliating Cleanser. It's an exfoliating cleanser that can be used as a mask as well. This definitely isn't something I'd use on a daily basis as it's quite abrasive РI've used it twice so far Рbut I do see a difference in my complexion after use.

If you've been with me longer than today, you know hair is an issue for me. It's been thinning since I started moving around (Paris, London, Amsterdam, now Leeds) and it just gets greasy after a day, no matter what shampoo I use. Yarok's Feed Your Volume Shampoo and Feed Your Youth Hair & Scalp Serum came highly recommended. Both products smell incredible and I've got to say, I'm kinda loving this combination.

Remember this post, when I said bottle no. 2 of Indie Lee's Squalene Oil was on its way? Well, it literally just arrived, and with their Blemish Lotion in stock, I just couldn't resist picking that up too. Being a big fan of Mario Badesqu's Drying Lotion, I'm very intrigued whether Indie Lee's Blemish Lotion will do the same thing (or more!) —but then with all natural, non-body harming ingredients. Will have to give it a go a few more times, but so far the impression is good.

And last, but definitely not least, I picked up Schmidt's Cedarwood + Juniper Deodorant. I'm generally not a sweaty person, but as underarms (and genitals) absorb 100% of the products you slap on (Kasting and Kretsos, 2005) it's pretty scary shiz. Cedar wood and Juniper aren't my usual scents to go for, but I was feeling a bit adventurous. Speaking of being adventurous, watch this space for more green beauty coming your way, because I couldn't resist the amazing Alice + White sale. What can I say... A girl's gotta do, what she's gotta do. (I also totally blame – and love – the girls from Call It Vanity for telling me about it.)

PS. A note to all my European green beauty lovers, check out The Beauty Quest for your green beauty fix! I've recently discovered this Dutch webshop. They house some of the loveliest green brands and ship internationally. Products are reasonably priced (in euros) and shipping is super fast! Also, a big thank you to Nancy for your speedy replies and customer support. PPS. I swear this isn't a sponsored statement, ha!

  1. Looks like you picked up some great stuff! Hope you like the Blemish Lotion and can't wait to hear your thoughts on Pa+G. I've been using that same Schmidt's deo--I'm a super smelly and sweaty person but no one knows because of this!

  3. I don't know if I should thank you or curse you for that website! I've been also thinking about trying to invest in more natural-ingredients skincare for a while. Some Spanish bloggers really rave about iHerb.com and some of the brands that you can find there, so I might do an order at some point and check it out (the products are pretty affordable as well). Definitely will take a look at The Beauty Quest. I have no clue about most of these brands, but the products you recommend are probably a good place to start!

  4. You're very welcome, thank you for making these amazing products! I'm so glad you like the image, I take great pride in my pictures and put great effort in them (modesty isn't a thing in my dictionary, per se ha). The Blemish Lotion has become a staple in my routine at the moment, don't know why it took me so long to try this!

  5. I'm liking the Blemish Lotion a lot, as well as Pa+G! I've actually started to mix it with my moisturiser or oil as you suggested and I like it much more like this. It was way too potent to put on my skin directly, so right now I'm slowly but surely seeing the benefits.

  6. I've never used iHerb so I can't say anything about my experiences, but The Beauty Quest is a blessing in the sky. I'd definitely recommend Indie Lee if you're planning to roll into natural beauty. It's very simple and fuss free, great for sensitive skin and rather affordable.
