Amsterdam Is Always A Good Idea

Sometimes you just need to relax, take 5 (days?) and be happy. Whilst money can't bring happiness, it does allow me to buy goods that bring me that much closer to being happy. I know I've been pulling the post-dissertation card rather often, but when I was offered to preview H&M's Studio A/W 2015 collection and buy it before the masses, I grasped that opportunity. And hey, any reason to visit Amsterdam is a good reason in my books.

So yes, the Studio collection. These collections are usually hit or miss for me, as I don't think I'm ‘high fashion’ enough to pull certain pieces off. (I acknowledge that I may resemble a Ninja Turtle in the green jacket). Either way, I did end up walking away with two big bags filled with a few pieces that would complement my current wardrobe perfectly, and that makes the approaching Autumn less grim. (OK, that's a lie, I actually love Autumn).  I tried my best capturing the items the best I could, so do cut me some slack as I'm not a fashion blogger and world's worst model. Gosh, I don't know how you guys do it —it's bloody exhausting.

Whilst I was on a shopping spree, I picked up L'Occitane's Rebalancing Black Soap, which is
an “olive oil based soap paste, enriched with eucalyptus essential oil”. It's supposed to be super detoxing, cleanses the skin and removes impurities. Think Turkish hammam at home. It was sold out in Leeds each time I popped in, so my curiosity grew with each disappointing visit. Have yet to try this, but I'll keep you posted. As I won't be going on holidays this year, I thought it'd be nice to get my holiday fix elsewhere and picked up The Escapist. It's made by the editors of MONOCLE – a lifestyle magazine “covering international affairs, business, culture and design” – and I love it. It's packed with short essays, great photography and is “a journal of places less explored”. Whilst this isn't necessarily replacing BEAUTY PAPERS (tried to pick it up, but was sold out), it is definitely added to my list of must-buy indie magazines. #PRINTISNOTDEAD.
