If you guys have read my previous posts (here and here), you know that I went to Antwerp to shop with one of my best friends. I was really excited to visit the Shu Uemura store there, as it was the “closest” counter near me – it takes about 3 hours to get to Antwerp.
As I knew from Google Maps that it was a block behind the main street, we decided to shop there first and just see where the streets would take us. My goal was to get a gala dress, matching shoes, Shu Uemura eyelash curler and the face architect foundation. I got 2 out of 4, but managed to compensate 😉
I first got my dress, my shoes, two bandeau tops and some Kiehl’s samples, which you can see below. I didn’t include the samples and the bandeau tops as they weren’t really exciting to show you guys. However, I really like the dress and shoes I got and am very excited to share it with you. The gala I’m going to is not very formal, so I wanted to get a nice summery, flowy dress. One I can also wear in summer or when I have a nice party. I think I succeeded and got a dress that ticks all those boxes.
Also I find that the color of the dress would look even prettier with a fake tan and maybe some golden accessories. Please don’t mind the background, it’s my closet door. The paper on it are all notes, reminders, and lists of things I need to get or want to get, and yes I’m a list person. I tried getting a picture of the dress on, but as no one was home, it was impossible to capture this long dress on. You just have to take my word that it looked gorge!
ZARA – €39,95
New Look – € 29,99
Same shoes. Please excuse my Minkoff mini MAC in the background. I really need to clean my room asap.
When we finally got directions to the Shu Uemura store, we first passed a nice little boutique called Cosmetique. It’s similar to Skins in the Netherlands. They just have a great assortment of products ranging from Essie to Dermalogica to Diptique to Bumble and Bumble to Laura Mercier, and all other brands in between!
We went in as it looked so cutesy, and asked the sales person where the Shu store was (it was just one store further, anyways) and then she told us that it was closed on Mondays! Just my luck. I was so bummed as I really wanted to repurchase that foundation, especially since it doesn’t have SPF in it. As I have my gala at Friday I wanted to get a nice foundation that doesn’t flashback.
The sales lady in Cosmetique was very nice, and she introduced me to Laura Mercier’s Creme Smooth Foundation. She applied it on me and my friend and we were both sold. And yes, I couldn’t resist, and got the foundation (pictures below). She also applied the Radiance Primer on me, and it looked so nice. It was almost like my skin was flawless and that my hyper pigmentation had almost disappeared. I thought it was too much to splurge on two (expensive) items on one day, so I am planning to order it online soon.
It came with a spatula, it’s a creme foundation (duh) and looks super thick. But little goes a long, long way – believe me! Haven’t used it yet, but will definitely be using it loads as it gives a super natural finish. And will be wearing it during my gala! If you guys are interested in a review of the foundation, let me know and I’ll do a blog post about the product!
I hope you guys enjoyed this little haul. It’s not something spectacular, however, all in all I spent quite a lot of money, but every penny was definitely worth it!
Let me know what you think of the products I got, and whether you would consider getting them or not!
