Yep people, I read. Actually, I’m a bookworm. I love reading books, and then I mean the actual paper books. I don’t own a kindle, or any other e-book reader device. And I’m proud of my bookshelf at home. Would it be strange to say that I feel really good when I look at it? Though I have to say, I’m a chicklit/roman/fashion/skincare/beauty/sometimesthrillers book reader, so don’t expect any deep literature. Though I have some, which I like, but my true passion lays elsewhere ;-).
Now I’ve put these books for a long time in my little e-basket at Amazon now. Why? Because I put beauty purchases before any book purchases. As you might’ve noticed, I kinda spend a lot of bucks on that part. Oops. Though I really am itching to click on that ‘Order now’ button, oh I am. Anyways, I thought of sharing the 4 books I’ve been eyeing at for a long time, to you dolls.
Grace: A Memoir
We all know the infamous Grace Coddington, basically the brains behind the scenes at Vogue US. People who weren’t in the fashion business all knew her because of the documentary ‘the September Issue’. It’s a great movie to show you how it’s going on at Vogue US, I loved every minute of it. This book will be launched the 22nd of November, and is available for pre-ordering at Amazon.
So what’s the book about? I quote: “Grace will introduce readers to the colorful designers, hairstylists, makeup artists, photographers, models, and celebrities with whom Grace has created her signature images. Grace reveals her private world with equal candor—the car accident that almost derailed her modeling career, her two marriages, the untimely death of her sister, Rosemary, her friendship with Harper’s Bazaar editor-in-chief Liz Tilberis, and her thirty-year romance with Didier Malige. Finally, Grace describes her abiding relationship with Anna Wintour, and the evolving mastery by which she has come to define the height of fashion.”
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
I guess this one of the books almost everyone has read, or has heard about. I’ve only heard about it a lot of times, and still haven’t read it yet. Why do I want to read it? Because everyone tells me how good it actually is, and that I’m crazy that I haven’t read it yet. Long story short it’s about the disappearance forty years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden… and about her octogenarian uncle, determined to know the truth about what he believes was her murder. Pretty vague, unfortunately… can’t tell you much more about it either ;-).
Wear This Now: Your Style Solution for Every Season and Any Occasion
The title sold me already, and of course its cover. Another thing that I really liked was the design of the layout inside, and that it was published this year. Why? Well, that means that it’s rather up-to-date, that the writing style is modern, and that it just has a fresh view to everything I guess.
How to Look Expensive:
A Beauty Editor’s Secrets to Getting Gorgeous without Breaking the Bank
So that’s a mouth full. I, again, got attracted to this book because of its title. I’m not sure where but this, and the other fashion book, I saw recommended in a fashion magazine, either ELLE or Marie Claire or Harper’s, or on their webpage. Anyhow. I want to look fancy. I would love to become a beauty editor in the future – if I get lucky. And yes, who would not like to be pretty without spending over budget on something. Right, eeevuryone.
So yes, this is my book round up. Let me know what books you’ve been loving lately, and whether you’ve read these books or not. I’m also a big thriller literature fan, love the Nicci French writer couple! Je vous aime!
