Oils. Pick any random beauty blog, website or magazine and you’ll be sure to find one – be it body, hair or face oils. As I’m more into skincare, I’d like to stress the latter. Being born with combination to oily skin made me avoid face oils like the plague. More shine and more grease? Non, merci. Little did I know that skincare is a bit like math, and just like minus + minus is plus, makes oil + oil into balanced skin. And that’s just how far my math goes, so lets head on to the edit.
Melvita Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil [hoh-hoh-buh] has restorative and soothing properties and is, in my opinion, great for all skin types. This number is colorant and preservative-free, 100% organic and the first cold pressed organic oil. Being cold pressed is a big plus, as the good properties of (organic) oils can be destroyed during heat extraction (to check this yourself: when your oil is completely colorless it means all kinds of things have been added to it). The oil sinks in to the skin immediately, leaving no greasy film behind, great for acne-prone skin as it’s naturally non-comedogenic, and I haven’t spotted any dry/rough patches on my skin when I’ve been using this. Dry, flakey bits be gone!
balance Me. Radiance Face Oil
I’ve reviewed this oil before and am still enjoying the last few drops very much. 100% organic and packed with oils such as Amazonian buruti, rose hip, moringa, Roman chamomile, cemellia, resulting in soothed and moisturized skin while adding a healthy glow. As I mentioned before, it’s a thick oil that is great for giving yourself a mini massage while applying the product. It sinks in fast, not leaving the skin feeling heavy or oily. It also works great as a make up base (no slipping away) and when I apply this overnight, I wake up with plumper and (more) radiant skin. Often I just wear this, pop some concealer on and head out to run some errands.
Inlight Organic Daily Face Oil
Not the most practical packaging of them all, but I ain’t holding a grudge against that. Its main ingredients are rosehip oil, lavender, evening primrose oil, jojoba oil. This wonderful combination together with floral and seed oils, makes the product smell amazing. Besides this, it’s also very nourishing and when massaging it in, it feels like you’re rubbing silk onto your face. I always wear this oil when my skin is a bit congested or inflamed, as because of this blend of oils, it works wonders. It’s perfectly suitable in the day time, under make up, as it doesn’t make your skin feel greasy or heavy at all.
Nourish Argan Skin Rescue
One of my favorite oils is Argan. Not only is it very nourishing, it also helps to repair the skin, fading/reducing spots and scars and can also be used on the body and hair for the same purposes. This number from Nourish is specially targeted for the face and aids to nourish and brighten the skin overnight. It’s a thick oil (which I love), so I tend to only use it in the evenings as it’s too rich for me during the day in Spring/Summer. Although it’s very nourishing and rich, it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and absorbs easily in the skin. To top it up: it’s 90% organic.
