I’m by no means a foodie, but I just love food and snacking. Healthy snacking is something I do often, but churning on carrots and slices of cucumber loses its appeal quite fast, so I was delighted when I discovered Super Healthy Snacks and Treats. Written by Jenna Zoe, it’s a book combined with things I love the most: gorgeous photography and food that is both delicious and good for the skin and body. Score!
Who thought healthy food could look as delicious as our often unhealthy, guilty pleasures? Well, I certainly did not. When Jenna Zoe decided it was about time to clean up her eating habits, she discovered green ingredients that can make snacking both healthy and as delicious as their unhealthy alternatives. In total there are 60 recipes that are free from gluten, eggs, dairy and refined sugar.
In total there are 7 chapters for different types of snacks and treats, such as: Breakfasts, Power Snacks, Savoury Nibbles, Dips & Dippers, Sweet Bites, Cookies and Bakes. You can expect to see anything from Almond Cookies to Carrot Cake to Chocolate Chip Cookies to Popsicles. All recipes are written and designed in a way that it is easy to follow and understand. What I really like is that in the beginning of the book there are a few pages that explain the ‘clean’ alternative ingredients.
I spend the entire weekend with my sister looking through the book to see what recipes we could recreate ourselves, and we captured the ones that made our tummies rumble. We made a little photo shoot out of it and I do hope you enjoy the pictures we took —you have no idea how much begging and bribing it took to get her to model.
