The Facial Top Coat

You know how top coats can make or break your manicure, By Terry’s Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder definitely extends the life of any chosen base and leaves a layer of pore diffusing, skin smoothing and velvety dreaminess on my skin. A daily staple? Oh heck yeah.

As a little disclaimer – I know I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – I’m not a loose powder kinda girl. At least, that’s what I’ve been telling myself and aside from the raves and hype around this product, I didn’t expect much magic to happen. Boy, what was I wrong. It comes in a plastic tub with a matte, waxy-ish, purple lid —just the usual. That being said, I’m just glad they spend the money on R&D with regards to the product and formulation, as it’s just all kinds of fab.

It’s a very fine-milled translucent powder that just makes getting that perfect Kardashian airbrushed-esque complexion a tad easier to achieve. I use a Real Techniques Powder Brush – which b-t-w is the softest brush ever – to dust this over my face and pay some extra attention to the areas where I’ve applied concealer. The powder contains Hyaluronic Acid and Silica microbeads, which leave the skin looking natural, velvety and diffuse any enlarged pores. Aside from setting your makeup, By Terry recommends this as a pre-bedtime treatment, which I personally would never use it for. I mean… I just don’t see the purpose in applying powder over my moisturiser. Or should I?

As I wasn’t expected to be wow-ed, I’m really impressed with the results of this product. You don’t need a lot of product and it has literally made any foundation stay on for longer, nicer, and my t-zone doesn’t get as shiny —without having a ‘cake party’. It’s definitely a very expensive addition to my routine (it retails for £42/€46), but if you’ve got an oily/combination complexion, and can afford to miss the extra pennies, I’d definitely recommend this. Dare I say, the extra addition we all need.
