A Collagen-Boosting Skincare Range

After Hyaluronic Acid, I think collagen is one of the most sought after skincare ingredient. I mean, who doesn’t want plump and smooth skin? Well, I most certainly do. Whereas collagen is often found in skincare for mature skin, I’m a big advocate of the saying, ‘prevention is cure’. Balance Me’s Collagen Boost range is great for all ages in my opinion —whether you’re in your early twenties or early fifties. I mean… My Mum has basically been using it more often than I do, and she loves it. (And a second order has already been placed)…

The key ingredients in the Collagen Boost range are Essential Amino Acids, which naturally form collagen and it basically ‘feeds’ the skin nutrients, resulting in smooth and plump skin. The product in the range contain Tri-Peptide to ‘stabilise the collagen helix’, Pea Peptide which is packed with Amino Acids, Hyaluronic Acid to keep dehydrated skin hydrated and Blackberry Leaf Extract, a powerful antioxidant that fights free-radicals and reduces inflammation.

My personal favourite is the Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser, which I’d use as my second cleanse and remove it with lukewarm water. It says you can remove it with cotton pads, but I personally am anti the ‘waterless cleansing’ trend that’s going on right now. The cleanser is very nourishing and calming, due to the Almond Oil and Shea Butter. I’ve not tried this as a makeup remover – I either use micellar cleansers or cleansing oils – as I feel like it’d be a waste of good ingredients!

The Restore and Replenish Face Cream is very hydrating, as it contains a variety of oils that restore the skin and stimulate collagen production. It sinks in almost instantly and leaves the skin radiant (not oily). It’d be a perfect moisturiser for me, come Autumn/Winter, but at the moment it’s a tad too heavy for my combination-oily skin. My Mum on the other hand slathers this on like there is no tomorrow and actually layers this over Balance Me’s Rose Otto Face Oil. (She’s got mature, sensitive and combination-dry skin).

I don’t have any fine lines yet – goodness, I just turned 22 not too long ago – so I can’t comment on that much, though my Mum noticed that her skin felt more nourished and smooth after a few days. As a side note: she’s got world’s most sensitive skin and is pretty much allergic to everything that’s in cosmetics. Her skin flares up whenever it doesn’t agree with a certain product —be it natural or not. So, for her to be able to use this range, notice results and not reacting to it, it’s basically a miracle. Overall I’m super impressed with this range, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for new additions. An essence, toner and eye cream perhaps? I know my Mum’s definitely up for that.
